Extensive Wadden mudflats, rugged beach plains, high dunes and marshes filled with purple sea lavender flowers, full of birds and butterflies. You always hear the North Sea and everywhere you can smell the Wadden Sea. They can be seen both at the same time on the higher dune tops.
Terschelling is pure nature. Full of birds and butterflies. With the vast mudflats a world in itself. Robust beach plains, such as the Noordsvaarder. Salt marshes on the border of sweet and salt, purple because of the flowering sea lavender. Walking, cycling, with a bird watcher to the duck cage or in a covered wagon to ‘the end of the world’: all year round there are excursions on Terschelling.
Hikers can enjoy themselves on Terschelling. There are more than two hundred kilometers of unpaved roads. Part of this is specially designed as a nature trail.
A lot of walkers leave Terschelling alone. That is a big mistake. If you are looking for peace and quietness, space and beautiful landscapes you can make beautiful walking-tours. And there is a lovely fresh sea-air.
The coast of Terschelling has wide beaches and offers magnificent views over the sea. From the view of the coast is beautiful. The beach lies shining in the sun and goes in a friendly curve with the sea and the sea can sometimes lighten unlikely bleu. And along the flood mark there are always people walking, weather or no weather. Terschelling is with all its catering industry at the sunny residence the stopping place for walkers.
