Lights walk Natuurlijk Oosterend 2026

On Monday 28 December 2026, the annual Lichtjestocht Natuurlijk Oosterend sets off in Oosterend, a wintry evening walk for all ages. The walk leads through the Dark Sky Park of Terschelling, one of the darkest places in the Netherlands, where you look up at the starry sky far away from artificial light.

What can you expect during the Lichtjestocht?

• Walk under the stars: an evening walk through the dark, with stargazing along the way.
• Learn about darkness: discover why darkness matters for people and animals and learn more about the effects of light pollution.
• Lights Christmas market: before the walk, from 15.00 to 17.00, browse stalls with island products, fresh vegetables, art and crafts at the sheep farm.
• Winter peace: enjoy the silence and nature of a winter evening on Terschelling.
