Boschplaat - Nature

The Boschplaat is a vast nature reserve on the eastern side of Terschelling. This unique area stretches over 10 kilometres and boasts a rich biodiversity. Here, you can spot rare bird species and enjoy complete tranquillity.
- Birdwatching: The Boschplaat is an important breeding area for countless bird species. Bring your binoculars and spot rare birds such as spoonbills, avocets, and terns. During the breeding season (April to August), some parts of the area are closed to give the birds peace and quiet.
- Walking and Cycling: There are beautiful walking and cycling routes through the area, such as the ‘Groene Strandpad’. Perfect for a relaxing day in nature. Follow the marked trails to help protect the fragile environment.
- Dune valleys and Beaches: Explore the dynamic dune valleys and enjoy the peaceful beaches, where you can sometimes be completely alone. The tides continuously shape this ever-changing landscape.
