De Streken - Sight

De Streken, located on Perkweg near Oosterend, is an impressive landscape artwork that follows the rhythm of nature. This unique structure moves with the tides and offers a magical experience.
What makes De Streken so special?
- Tribute: This artwork is a tribute to the founder of Oerol, Joop Mulder, whose dream was to merge art and nature in this way.
- Unique Experience: A narrow 150-metre wooden bridge leads you over the mudflats to a circular wooden structure. At low tide, you look out over the endless mudflats; at high tide, the artwork floats on the water. This makes it a dynamic and ever-changing spectacle.
- Breathtaking View of the Mudflats: Experience a stunning display of light, water, and silence. A special place to pause and reflect on the grandeur of nature.
Practical Information
- Best Time to Visit: Early in the morning for a magical sunrise. The tranquillity and sounds of nature make this an unforgettable experience.
- Access: The artwork is freely accessible, but be prepared for changing conditions due to the tides.
- Annual Art Installation: This monument exists only in summer. De Streken is rebuilt each year and can be visited from early June to mid-September, unless the mudflats decide otherwise. Weather conditions may cause it to be dismantled earlier.
